Jason David Frank Passed Away Rumor

Around 11/19/2022, a rumor was spreading that JDF (Jason David Frank) had died. I was under the assumption that it was a troll or a trend going on like RIPJIMMYFALLON.I looked more into it and didn’t see anything else about until 11/20/2022, at which point I realized its validity and had to face the facts.

Jason David Frank meant a lot to children, teens, and adults who grew up in the 90s and watched Power Rangers. We remember him for his role as Tommy Oliver, the first anti-hero turned main protagonist in Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.

It’s amazing to hear that the creators of the show only intended for his character to be in one season, but his charisma and spark on screen/in real life have made him a fan favorite and one of the original rangers to have multiple appearances from MMPR, Zeo, Turbo, and Dino Thunder. Not to mention the specials, crossover episodes, and fan productions he appeared in. JDF has done at least 225 episodes, in which he was either the Green, White, Red, or Black Ranger. A legendary feat for a legendary guy.

Jason David Frank Life and Times

Since he left Power Rangers, he has been an MMA fighter, he holds a Guinness World Record for breaking the most 1″ pine boards while skydiving, and he has also created a martial arts style called “Toso Kune Do” (translating to “way of the fighting fist”). I remember that I attended an event he was at and got embarrassingly star struck. All the memories of me making the martial arts poses and yelling “Kiai” rushed into my mind.

After visiting some of the panels that other cast members from the original Power Rangers show hosted. Interacting and listening to stories about how JDF was around them when he was younger was inspiring and his personality on and off-screen suits his style. Amy Jo Johnson, the original Pink Ranger, talked about him riding a horse or motorcycle into the sunset.

Jason David Frank Thoughts

I am grateful to look back into my childhood and have fond memories of him. It was news earlier this year about his divorce, but the reasoning and cause behind that is neither here nor there. We are all human beings and no one gets anything perfect. My thoughts and prayers are with Jason David Frank’s family and friends, who he leaves behind. JDF has a quote I want to share and it goes like this. “I’ve got a lot of fans, but I say friends, because every time I meet a fan somewhere around the world, I don’t consider them a fan; I consider them as a friend.” Farewell, Friend. Hope to see you again.
