Suicide Squad Isekai Anime: Is it Just Average or Something More?

Suicide Squad Isekai is a Japanese anime collaboration between Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio! Beloved Suicide Squad characters will be transported to a different world to combat foreign threats and familiar challenges. The release of more trailers will increase my interest and updates to this article.

Suicide Squad Isekai Thoughts

So far, we have seen Harley Quinn and a tattooed smiling Joker driving around town with what looks like a keyboard for a steering wheel. Additionally a strange world filled with knights, ogres, and a dragon made an appearance. My initial expression resembled the anime version of Amanda Waller, leaving me unimpressed.

Questions arise regarding the story’s direction. I wonder if it will involve a crazy contraption that sends the Suicide Squad to this parallel world, or if they simply die and wake up there. Hopefully, the narrative will make sense and proves to be entertaining enough for me to watch, even though I strongly dislike the isekai genre. It feels overdone, with protagonists either dying and becoming demigods, attempting to pick up girls in dungeons, or longing to relive their youth and confront past bullies that they didn’t have to balls to fight back then.

Anime studios seem to believe that slapping their name on something will automatically generate excessive hype and excitement, but we’re all tired of being disappointed by mediocrity. While I won’t prematurely label this venture as mediocre, I will keep a watchful eye on its development, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to be pleasantly surprised.
