Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer dropped I’m underwhelmed

Death Throes Of Thor: Love And Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder

The trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder dropped and it feels like the end of a long, drawn-out run. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is seen running as a child transitioning to his adulthood. Burying Storm Bringer in a time of peace, he is also training on a planet to get hero ready. Maybe this happens to get him prepared for the new threat Gorr The God Butcher (Christian Bale). The trailer shows the Guardians of the Galaxy (no telling how long they’ll be in the movie) also Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) makes an appearance in a business run “New Asgard” The trailer boasts Sweet Child O’ Mine in the background to the new Marvel Studio feature. The trailer is very safe, and will be humorous like Thor: Ragnarok. (Could care less) Loki (Tom Hiddleston) isn’t shown in this trailer but he may have a cameo in the movie or ending credits to get us ready for Kang The Conqueror.

Thoughts

The thing with this trailer is that it doesn’t broadcast any action or threat, just characters from a long line of movies that will take a couple days of binge-watching to understand the lore. The biggest thing on social media is the color palette, which people are saying looks “amazing”. In 2022, a movie just looking pretty or showing scenes from the comic side by side is not enough to keep the train moving. Especially if they don’t bring the same writing along with it. The trailer ends with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) summoning Mjolnir, cementing her spot as the new Almighty. Thor. The new phase of Marvel films will attempt to shine light on the D+ characters that can’t sell in their solo comics. Marvel knows its fan-base will eat anything and everything it puts out without any constructive criticism. So when they follow the breadcrumbs back to the D+ characters it will only lead to disappointment.

I would like to see how the movie plays out before deciding whether or not this is a bad thing. Who’s to say I’m wrong? (I highly doubt it)
